Guys,

Could some one help me to answer following question :

We have tank contaning Yeast plus water. The size of the tank is 5.44 feet diameter and 6 feet high during transportation. The weight of the contents = 4400 lbs. During transportation the tank will be under pressure of 30 psig. The tank is used to transfer contents from one brewery to another brewery. During service the tank will be stationary. The maximum distance bewteen two brewery in Canada will be 1600 km. The tank will be registered with department of safety New Brunswick.

My question is whether requirements of department of transportation of Canada applies to above tank. Iis yes then what is procedure and what requirements/ regulations need to comply with. I have been trying to contact DOT but so far no luck. Therefore if some one with similar experience can help me , I would highly apperciate.

Thanks you in advance.

Don't know about Canada; however in the U.S., the answer would be YES! Our DOT governs everything transporated by highway, rail, ship and air.

Keep trying with the Canadian DOT. Maybe look for their web site? I know the US DOT standards (from the US Code of Federal Regulations) are all on the web -- maybe the Canadian ones are also?

You need to contact Transport Canada in Ottawa.
The rules to follow are spelled out in Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Standard B620, B621, and B622, as well as other supporting documents referenced in these standards.
Your application is goverened by these rules.

Your commodity could not be anyworth than the transportation of flammable gases such as propane or butane. So I dont believe that the jurisdiction will be a problem.
