According to MSC, a company called Southwest Industries makes a product called travel dial which MSC does not distribute. This product attaches to the saddle of a lathe for tracking x-travel.

MSC did not have a telephone number. 800 info has a listing in Florida and California but not the same company.

Also could not find it via web search.

Anybody know in what city and state SW Industries is located? Or who distributes this product?

Have you tried EBAY? We have an old one here that we should get rid of; we replaced it with a digital readout. I believe you will find a new one may cost about the same as a digital because they are really cheap now. To me the digital is far more versatile with the right box.

metman, if you can find a used one, by all means grab it. As moldcore points out, DROs have gotten much cheaper, and the travadial can give inaccurate readings depending on maintenance. We have them on all our lathes, great addition, you just have to watch them.
