Hi, I am going to specify gate / globe valve - Body material CS, class 150 and 300, operating temp 80 °C for cooling water with Chloride Content. Selected trim material is Duplex F51. I would like to explore the possibility to specify Duplex closure member and seat (base material as Body) with stellite 6 or higher. Does anybody have experince with such solution?
Thank you for your answer.

Hi,

Yes, your scenario will mitigate the Chlorine corrosion substantially.
Some alternative for Body (especially when the valve is buried) is Alumunium Bronze, ASTM B148-UNS C95400 or Ductile Iron.
Assuming the workmanship is good, installed and maintain properly it will do the trick.

If it stuck fails (especially for Gate valve), most likely caused by the solidified salt and other 'seafood' which remains in the valve cavity.

Regards,
MR

All valves will last for years, except the ones that were poorly manufactured; are still wrongly operated and or were wrongly selected
