If the requirement for gate valve is trim F6, can we supply valve with trim SS316. Will SS316 trim work fine in place of F6. The valve is for oil refinery.
Same answer as your other posting: Only the oil refinery can answer your question, depending on internal (detailed) valve specifications for the company, regardless of the general quality of the combination.
Regrettably the technical world is such constructed that if one company can supply exactly what the customer has specified, you will have trouble supplying 'almost' what the customer has specified, at a cheaper quality. You can always try to suggest deviations, but you will in most cases find out that the end user has a reason for his specification.
SS316 would be "overspec" compared to F6, but overspec doesn't necessarily mean that this is suitable, hence the difference in the API trim definitions between F6 and SS316.
Oil refinary has rejected my proposal to supply trim 10 inplace of trim1. I am aware that certain application does not accept this but not all. This should be acceptable in general. Could you give me technical points so that I can write to the refinary that they should consider this on case to case basis.
For the refinery (and hence oil company) this would probably involve extra work for QA: evaluation and changing of routines and procedures, changing of manuals, evaluation of risk and consequences eg.: the administrative cost would be regarded as higher than the eventual economical gain, and please remember that this hangs together with the routines for the whole company, not only the particular refinery.
In my opinion it is not likely that this work wold be initiated because of this (smaller) change.
You could of course try, but I would have used my time trying to sell something you have to somone who wants to buy it.
