Trouble Running NX 11 when connected to VPN network

I've got a node locked license running on my local machine.

When working remotely, NX runs when not connected to the company VPN network.
But when connected it fails.

If I'm running NX when I connect, it will continue to run.
If you try and start a new session it can't find the license server.

Has anyone else experienced these types of issues???

Most folks are probably connecting to a license server on the network, thru the VPN.
I think that scenario works predictably well. It's your machine looking outward toward the server.

But when your machine is is the license server... it can create a naming resolution issue when you connect to the VPN.

Siemens tech support hasn't been much help and I'm ready to loose it.

Does the license service still work when connected to the VPN and NX can't get the license
or
The license server stops running when connected to the license server?

I think the VPN "locks" out several local functions,
when i work from home, i can print on my home ( not the company's property) until i connect to VPN but as soon as connected, that printer is unavailable.
If i guess , your IT people might need to help allow local services such as the flexlm when connected.

The License server does continues to run when connected to the VPN.
It just can't find itself anymore.

It seems to me that when running a node locked license...
Siemens should provide a product that works regardless of what you connect to.

Ten thousand plus dollars a year should = excellence.
What good is any software that just won't run on demand.

I'm boiling mad over all the back and forth finger pointing.
It's absolute BS

Probaly the vpn app are changing the primary Etherner Adapter and the node locked licence will not work because it depends of the mac address.
try to run the getcid.exe in both cases to check if the hostid change.

In the install directory of the license, ( typically C:\siemens\NX12\ugflexlm if installed straight off without customziing) there is a license logfile "splm_ugslmd.log"
Open that w notepad and see if you can see any clues on if the service becomes blocked when the VPN starts.

Ok so here is the answer for this conundrum....

Point the license server to 28000@"localhost" literally.
NOT the "actual machines host name" or "IP address"

Do this in
1. Your License File
2. Licensing Tools
3. Environment Variable

This way your machine "ONLY" looks at itself regardless of networks etc...

The number of tech support people that I encountered that could not arrive at this simple fix when it's their entire job to know how this all works...

You guys and this forum are an invaluable resource for me and I appreciate anyone willing to take the time to drop some advice.
Thank you!

My frustration is with the group that gets paid to support this software.
I'm thru one quarter of a 12 month subscription and am only just now getting some traction after countless issues.
Licensing, software bugs, Microsoft updates corrupting NX functions...

It's been a long quarter.
