Trouble with curve driven pattern 1

I am trying to model a rotor with teeth placed on a spiral. Found a YouTube video

that basically does what I want to accomplish.
On a tube > create a helix > sketch a rectangle > create planer surface > create a curve driven pattern.
Make my tooth.
Make assembly.. insert my tube > insert component (my tooth) mate to planer surface.
Feature Driven Component Pattern > And it places my teeth in a completely different circle

WHAT.. am I doing wrong?? I can see where there is a problem.. when I move my rotor into an assembly.. open the feature manager and select my helix.. it show it off to the side of my rotor. ?? In my sketch everything is "fully defined" Very confusing.

I should have noted that this is with SW Premium 2012x64 SP1.0 and here is also a picture of my rotor with the helix off to the side ??
Thanks for any advice.. or perhaps a link to some other tutorial.

Thanks to all that considered my problem. I have found an alternative way to accomplish my task from

The problem is resolved.. except for the "why" my first attempt did not work..which at the moment I am putting in the category of "my ineptness"

You Should file this under "SolidWorks' Ineptness"

Features like Sketches cannot be patterned maybe patterns should be called Features except Sketches or References Pattern

Bet problem is due to Select Origin portion of Curve Pattern Dialog. The pattern can be done in 3d at part level using a 3dSketch with workaround using 3D Sketch planes the precursor to the sw2010 RefPlane feature creation. Curve Driven Pattern is intended for 2D patters as currently written.
