My guess would be not to exceed the static coefficient of friction between rubber and concrete if you use concrete as the base material.

Not sure on trucks,
But I was just dealing with this issue for a tracked crane
and the answer was 1V:7H

chicopee,
Good guess, but don't forget about rain, the insitu soil that will be deposited on the surface, some oil seepage from the vehicles, and a comfortable factor of safety.

Or...ask an articulate truck driver with gray hair (LOL).

Typically 0.5% to 4% range is specified, but I agree with Michael. As an engineer, I would put much more stock in the advise of a trucker or trucking firm than that of an engineer.

If your firm has good relationships with any earthwork contractors and/or suppliers, give some of them a call. I would bet someone would be happy to advise for free, or over a complimentary lunch.

Remember: The Chinese ideogram for “crisis” is comprised of the characters for “danger” and “opportunity.”
