And now an easy one...
I heard that NX5 supports True type fonts. Does it? We might be seitching to it soon. Thanks

Sorry, but if you're referring to using True Type fonts in drafting, for notes and dimensions and such, NX 5 (or even NX 6) does NOT support it. However, if you need to create text features as part of your model, we do support True Type fonts in the 'geometric' Text function.

Now there is a utility called 'FontFactory' that was created by one of our developers which makes it easy to edit NX fonts. The tool will also allow you to create a new NX font file by importing a True Type font (and if you want, you can also export an NX font so that it can be converted into a True Type font).

I've attached a zip file containing the 'FontFactory' program as well as the user documentation. Make sure that you read 'setup.txt'.

This is a great tool! Thanks, I am sure it will be very useful.

Here is the latest (and probably the LAST) version of 'FontFactory'.

Changes in this version (Version 2.5) are fairly minor:

(1) Better handling of two-byte characters

(2) Places extra comments in FNT files, to improve readability

(3) Slightly better Character Info field on the main dialog

(4) In the Import TrueType function, added a Japanese character set option

(5) Fixed a bug in converting fixed to variable width fonts

The improved handling of two-byte characters helped with some Japanese fonts and with accented characters in French. Maybe it will help other people, too.

As usual, you have to change the file name from "executable" to "exe".

Also note that the installation instructions have been added to the user doc's (.pdf).
