tsr computation for drum head (required thickness) 1

In the strength calculation of DRUM HEAD, which is best to use in computing the tsr or required thickness of drum head, is it in the ASME Code section I? or in ASME Code Section 8? If ever I choose section 8, what will be the chances that I can pass during ASME renewal? Please anyone can advice me?

What section are you building to? What kind of head do you have? You cannot pass a review if you do not understand what is required.

I am working in a steam drum which is basically under ASME code Section I, we are using a program in Japan wherein the formula used in calculating the drum head is in ASME code section VIII, they been using this long time already even in ASME Stamp required project. But here in our country, we will going to experience it first time. Since we already ordered the materials for drum head. We made comparison to ASME Code I and ASME Code VIII, the result is tsr for Section VIII is smaller compared to Section I, now what chances that I can justify the usage of Section VIII to our AI? Thats my question?

If the drum is for steam service and constructed to ASME,
it must be to SecI. Japan requires MOL review,they will not accept this until it is completed and the Japanese paperwork is processed. Go the the MOL website for more info.
