We have a project where will be necessary to be executed tubes rolling expansion at site in an environment with temperatures about -30C, we have executed plenty of tube to tubesheet expansion at site but not at this low temperatures. The tubes and tubesheets are materials 304L, so probably no problems from this point , but from practice of expansion execution is our doubt of there are special care, like:

1) Is there any special care with the tubes rolling tools at this temperature?
2) Is there any recommneded lubricant to be applied at tools and tubes to be expanded?
3) Is it necessary to consider any special procedure or any special recommendation?

Thanks

I would conduct a mock-up or simulation for the service temperature and see if any problems develop regarding rolling tool breakage or issues related to the tube rolling machine/expanders.

I would contact the manufacturer of your tube rolling equipment and ask for any guidance.

A temporary enclosure heated with salamenders may be needed.

Chicopee, my thought exactly.

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
