Turn off "@" at front of "TO" coordinates in MOVE:

I want to move a selection set from some "picked" point to 0,0,0.

I type in ONLY the 0,0,0 as the destination, but ACAD adds the "@" in dront so the destination is the same as the start point . I guess they wanted to make it easier, but I already know when to add "@" and when not to. I already know the difference betwqeen absolute and relative coordinates.

Help!

Wierd, mine doesn't do that.

Never saw that before.
Must be a setting somewhere.
Actually, sometimes I'd like to have it do that!
Are you running a macro or program, or just typing "move" on the command line?

I should have mentioned that I'm newly running 2006.

Are you running a macro or program, clicking on an icon or just typing "move" on the command line? Try tping "move" on the command line and see if that works.

Yes-
ANY method of MOVE (or any other command that requires a destination point, including grip-based editing) seems to balk at a typed-in destination point, by adding the "@" symbol when I've ONLY typed the digits. I'll see the coordinates go in at the cross-hairs as I typed them, but at command failure, I look back at the command prompt and see the "@" symbol inserted in front, and the coordinates function just as you'd expect them to with the "@" typed in, which == no move.

There are a number of other "refinements" in 2006 that are "improved just enough" that old optimized strategies no longer seem to work the same in 2006.

There are a number of things I wish they would stop "improving". Dimensioning for instance. They are no closer to ANSI standard dimensioning than back at r14, but now control over a number of sizing, fits, and positioning features are now "optimized" to the point that some of the users in our office who've been doing GOOD associative dimensioning for years are threatening to "explode those d--- dims and say to heck with it". It's not really that bad, as all I have to do is show them where some of the settings have been moved to or how they've been modified, and they calm down a bit, but its still a challenge!

Anyway, any clues on the original question? I'll check on DYNPICOORDS and get beck to you here.

I found it.
Go Tools / Drafting Settings
Go for the Dynamic Input tab
Click Settings under Pointer Input
Change Relative to Absolute.

This is an R2006 specific setting.

DYNPICOORDS is the system variable that the menu pulldowns changes. Set to 0 and it uses relative, set to 1 and it uses absolute.
