Hello People

Does anyone know how we can either make reference geometry within a sketch invisible outside so it doesn't show up on some 2D symbol drawings we have been creating.

Using edit object display allows you to move the referecne lines onto another layer within the sketch, however as soon as you exit the sketch they fick straight back to layer 1.

I'm using NX4 by the way.

Many thanks in advance

Simon.

Best regards

Outside of the sketcher you can blank the unwanted geometry. In order to do this, you will need to set your selection filter to "curve" in order to prevent selecting the entire sketch.

Or you can use view dependent edit to remove the offending geometry from the drawing view.

Edit>View>View Dependent Edit>Erase Objects

In order to do this, you will need to set your selection filter to "curve" in order to prevent selecting the entire sketch.

It's easier to just use 'QuickPick' and select the line directly without messing with setting and unsetting of filters all the time.

Ok, "need to" was too strong a phrase.

I find that setting the filter from the selection dialogue is useful for picking multiple items, saves time waiting for the 'quick pick' function to activate for each pick.

Try this. Go to Preferences -> Selection... and go down to the 'QuickPick' section and toggle OFF 'QuickPick on Delay'. Now it will never come ON automatically. However, what this also means is that you no longer have to wait for it since it will now come ON if you just press MB1 over the item(s) you wish to select and hold it for a half-second, then you will be put into QuickPick immediately. Once you start using it this way, it works much better since you have 100% control over when it's going to come up. Now waiting and no wishing it hadn't come up when you didn't really want it.

Thanks for you help guys, how stupid of me, a moment of confusion on my behalf, I use that all the time, but it just didn't register.
