Hi,

I am trying to work my way through the Manufacturing tutorials, I have only programed in Mastercam up until this point! So far there are a lot more clicks to make in NX...need to learn the shortcuts!

I was doing the the first turning tutorial and I am stuck, it won't let me select the geometry of the part. When I try it keeps selecting the bar stock. Not sure what I am doing wrong. See the attached photo.

Are there any good books available on Manufacturing in NX?

I have taken the Siemens course Introduction to NX for Experienced Users.

Thank you for any help.

Hockeyguy,

I am also very new to NX so I might be way off on answering this, but I do know that if you stand on the surface for a moment, there usually will appear and ellipses ... click it and then you are presented with a submenu that you can choose the underlying objects from. As you mouse over the various objects, NX will highlight both the menu choice and the corresponding elements in the graphics area.

hth,
Gary

Hold the mouse still for a couple seconds, and you should see a list of everything under the cursor - then you can pick the solid you want.

If you have not done so, please go through the getting started tutorial. I checked and Quick Pick is explained in the Getting Started tutorial and the Turning tutorial explicitly says to “Use the QuickPick list to be sure you select the part geometry and not the bar stock” when selecting part geometry.

Thanks Mark, I will do that!

I just had to wait a few seconds for the dots to show up!
