Does anyone out there do any turn work with a B-axis? I'm attaching a .jpg of a sample
part. I want to be able to turn the entire profile in one pass, having the B-axis
index while cutting.

I'm working in NX4.0.4.2 and this would be for a Mazak Integrex 200IVS.

There is no turning operation I know of that will do this. Is it possible in later versions or upcoming versions?

BTW this isn't an actual part we make just an example of what I need.

You could do it in multiple operations in turning by changing the tool holder angle.
Variable contour may work if the machine can tract all 3 axis at once. Can you move the B axis while turning?

Yes the B-axis can be moved while turning. I want to be able to do this in one pass. Do you think my best shot is to use a milling operation. I dono't see any other possiblities.

The multi axis milling operations are the only ones that will allow you to changethe tool axis (B) diring the cut.
