Depends on many factors - you need to tell us a lot more about the pumps and the complete pumping system.

Hi

Pumps are centrifugal domestic circulators.
First pump is internal to the boiler and the second is in series after the boiler.

The second pump is on a seperate timer for the hot water.
The boiler pump is set to run on for 20 seconds to take heat away from the boiler but when this happens the hot water pump may be switched off from the timer

hope this helps

I am assuming that when the boiler pump runs it is pumping into the "system", you therefore have to establish if both units need to run to overcome the system head, if the head in the system exceeds the head capability of the pump on the boiler, there will be no flow.

try it?

But if possible disenganging the motor will reduce most of the resistance i think. the stopped pump will be a loss but how much is difficult to say.

Best regards

Morten
