Greetings,

I'm a Computer Engineer and I've got this temporary mission of teaching programming basics to graduate students on Mining Engineering. I'd like to adapt all my examples so that they be useful or at least close to Mining Engineers' activities. I'm sorry if the scope of this question is maybe too large. It's a 1-semester course, they'll learn only the basics (variables, expressions, functions, flow control).

Maybe what I need is a concrete example of:
- report processing
- simulator (simple stuff, though)
- real-time plots for some variable (???)
all adapted to this area of knowledge

Well, that's it. I appreciate your help.

Here is what they should learn :

Macro programming in Excel for quantities Reporting, Budgeting, etc.

Control Loop with manual overide in any current programming language (C++??) so they can control things.
It could be a ventilation setup or a pump setup, with multiple pumps in series.
