Hi,
I am trying to make a simple check for an aluminium channel. It is 40mm width by 30mm deep, 2.5mm thick.
The channel assumed to serve as a glazing channel for glass that is 2 side support. I calculated the load per meter to be a 1.5kN/m acting to the flange tip.
The bending simply should be 1.5kN*30mm then the stress assuming it is base fixed would be Stress M/z=45000*6/1000*2.5*2.5=43.2MPa
While sap is giving a very low value.

Thehttps://res.cloudinary.com/engineering-com/image/upload/v1607880717/tips/lolo_ugsa5g.pdf channel is supported in timber with an E value of 5400Mpa which I used as area spring 5400N/mm/mm2 is that sound right?
