I'm looking for a step by step design example/guide for seismic loads on piperacks.

I'm looking for a procedure for piperacks specifically, as I understand pipe support structures are very different from the buildings and thus modifications to the guide for buildings is required.

I have found an article written by C.V. Char that was published in March 1979's Hydrocarbon Processing magazine, but I don't have the complete article. The part I'm missing should detail the recommended procedure for earthquake loads.

Thanks.

You should visit the UBC website. I believe they have a 3 volume set of seismic design examples avaiable for purchase. Also, I believe that non-structural hazards are addressed in one of those volumes.

Another source of information would be NAVFAC, the Naval Facilities Engineering Manual. I recall there being an example of calculating the forces on a piperack or hanger connection in that manual as well.
