Hello All

I may have posted this before, but has anybody else had problems with the UDF wizard? Basically, we are running TCEng and NX4.0.4.2 and when we try and use the UDF wizard, it fails instantly giving us and error which says "ERROR OCCURED WHILST BUILDING WIZARD DIALOG" However, it works fine in native. Any help in overcoming this problem will be greatly appreciated as it's causing me great pain an suffering due to the constant ear bashing I'm getting from disgruntled engineers. (No joy from Siemens either as yet)

Best regards

Simon. [sadeyes]

At first glance I would say that when launching native, your evnvironment variables are defined properly and when launching Tc they are not. If this is the case, NX launched from Tc cannot find the files needed to build the dialog box.

Another cause could be that you simply don't have the system resources to run both Tc and NX.

Hmm' it's a strange one, our systems can certainly cope as they are £7.5K ($15k) top of the range 64 bit monsters running with 8GB of ram. The also use the same NX default/envrionment files the only difference being that when launching NX via TC it fires up the ugmgr.bat file to link the two together. No one seem to know what's going on.

Thanks anyway though.

It will probably take some debugging. Start with the ugmgr.bat file and work through it too make sure if it is in fact defining the environment the same. I have experienced similar problems in the past when we had different start up scripts for Tc and NX native.

Have you checked your syslog? There may be some usefull information there.....

Obviously you have plenty of computing power.

Check these lines in your .env file

UGII_UDF_IMAN_TOP_LEVEL_FOLDER /Home/Company_Folder/Standard_Parts/UDFs
UGII_UDF_IMAN_WITH_NATIVE_DATABASE no

the path may not be the same for you. This is where UG will create the UDF files in TC.
Make sure you have permissions to create files in here and the relevant folder exists.
The second just uses the files in the folder structure in TC to create the list instead of the old fanggled text file. If this is set to "yes" and no file exists this could cause a problem. I'd suggest making it "no".
That seems to work for us.
