ug to ideas

i keep hearing that ideas can read ug nx prt files and will include the history tree
i have attempeted this many times with no success
in ideas i can import the ug prt into ideas but its a dummy solid, i have also tried a .xpk file from ug to ideas and that wont work
the reason here is i have tons of parts i have created that i could use as cut tools in ideas, but i need to bring the history tree or ford will reject my parts. im guessing i need a third party software to do what i want. am i right?
