UHA-51(g) - Exemption From Impact Testing Because of Low Stress.

Hi All,

Wondering if any can help me understand the following (I may be over complicating it)

UHA51(g) exempts impact testing unless modified in (c) when the stress ratio is less than 0.35.

In my case, sub-cooled liquid nitrogen vessel operating at -200°C constructed of 304/304l stainless.

Taking the allowable stress of 138mpa and design stress of the vessel being 0.4mpa. Giving 0.4 / 138 = 0.00289.

Does this exempt the requirements of impact testing? Or am I totally getting the wrong end of the stick?

PVTC, unless your material falls under UHA-51(c) (doesn't seem likely) you can exempt per UHA-51(g).
