UL listed and FM approved Butterfly valves.

Hi,

i came across a query from VENDOR for the datasheet i prepared for the Butterfly valves,indicating the requirement of UL and FM approval. my requirement is Butterfly valve, Double flanged type, EPDM lined, to be used in Sea water applications with UL and FM approved.
But vendor replied that, UL and FM approval is not applicable for flanged types valves and shall be possible only in Wafer type or Lug type. and also, rubber lined valves cannot be UL tested.

Pls clarify me on the above, why this is not possible.

Since you prepared the data sheet, you should be able to tell us what UL and FM standards you need the valve to meet. I am not aware of any UL or FM standards for seawater applications. The rest of the details regarding flange type and rubber lined depend upon the specific standard.

Thanks for your response. Pls clarify, whether the UL & FM approved shall be available for double flanged rubber lined butterfly valves. Becos no vendor is coming forward with this specification. However, if it is UL & FM approved, whether the rubber lined valvea can able to clear the fire testing requirement.
