What is the Ultimate shear strenght of AISI 1070 annealed to 102 Brinnell.
It is for know the pres force needed to cut it by a die .

It has been found empirically the the maximum force to produce shearing, P(max), is given by

P(max) is approximately (0.7) X (ultimate tensile strength) X (sheet thickness) X (length of the sheared edge).

The ultimate tensile strength of your stock (at BHN 102) should be about 51,000 pounds per square inch.
