Ultrasound invisible material 1

i need axis (i hope thats the name...my english isnt very flexible ; ) for a DC motor. on this axis will be human organ and this organ will be "scaned" with ultrasound. so i need material for axis that will be unvisible on ultrasound pictures. this organ and whole imaging is happening under water so i need material with same density (=1kg/1dm3) but material must be enough "hard and unflexible" and must be homogenic (no "air bubbles" in himself, no "sponge-like, or swiss-cheese-like" material...)...

We use a similar material for calibration of ct scanners. The material is called "solid water" and you can buy it in most dimensions from a company called Gammex in Middleton, WI. Do a search on the internet for them and you will find their website.

Hello,

There are materials available which are transparent to ultrasound. These material are a rubber, i.e. polyurethane. The speed of sound in this media is 1430 meters per second and most medical ultrasound systems are callibrated to 1540 meters per second.
