Currently the fully automated system consists of 4x Edwards HHP/2700/6276 boilers with Nu-way NOL60 burners, a SPP Unistream 125-32 Blakers pump and an Alfa Laval A15-13FM, 69 plate, heat exchanger. The operating temperature is approximately 160 °C and runs at 1.2-1.6 Bar pressure.
The system used to heat triethylene glycol, however, due to availability issues, the system now contains mineral based Seriola 32, which have caused major disruptions to the circuit. Steam generation is the major concern, and pressure increases to approx 2.5 Bar.
The pump and hex have both been replaced, and the system continues to create steam (white), even at low temps of around 130°C, the steam can take approx 3 hours to bleed off. The boilers last approximately 2-3 days before leaks occur and one has completely failed from overheating.
Initial thoughts are toward oil contamination. Any Ideas greatly appreciated.
Cheers
