We are unable to access CAD. Below is the message we receive. CAD has been
installed again as has Windows. We have found the file in (find files) it will not
allow us to access it. We have no idea what this file is or where it should be. Also
don't know who to contact regarding it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Who to contact: Autodesk tech support, presuming that by CAD you do mean AutoCAD (which, after all, is this forum). They should be able to tell you precisely what's wrong based on the dump message you got.

On my machine (Win XP) the MFC42LOC.DLL is found in c:\windows\system32

Just for kicks, do a global search to see if it's anywhere on your hard drive. If it is, try copying it to your system and/or system32 folder.

I have seen errors like this when trying to install software that wasn't on the original distribution CD. Speaking to tech support revealed that the copy was missing some installation files. Since the distribution CD was lost we had to buy a new one. In our case it was not a big deal since it was only $150 data acquisition software.

This problem occured due to the appearence of Norton Antivirus 2003.
Due to this reason after you install NAV2003(and sometimes even when you perform the internet live update of NAV 2002) the file AC1ST15.DLL is altered and Autocad is not able to load.
The solutions are:
1. go to read the details about this problem, download the new ac1st15.dll and replace the old one which is usually located in (c):/Program files/Common Files/Autodesk Shared.
2. Send me an email and I will send you the good file. Attention: You will have to store the new file in a secure place because the file in (c):/Program files/Common Files/Autodesk Shared is going to be altered again (sometime without even noticing) when your computer performs the "live update" of NAV. In this case you will have to make the treatment again.
