I have had this happen to me a few times and can never figure out why it is doing it or how to rectify it.

I attach a GTOL to a surface, with a leader. I also have a datum plane running through that surface, on which I click>RMB>properties>Placement 'In Gtol'.

It gets attached to the GTOL box underneath it as I expect it to. BUT for some reason, I cannot always select it and drag it down so that it shows the triangle properly. It just seems unpickable and undragable, which is no good for a drawing that is to be used.

See image for the state it gets stuck in...

Any help REALLY appreciated!

Thanks.

Jon,

There is a setting in the drawing options that will set the datum extension to a larger preset value. I believe it is set_datum_leader_length. Also have you tried the selection filter set to datums? I have noticed before on my own drawings that in order to select the datum tag to move it I have to select the datum itself first not just the tag. The datum can be selected in the drawing tree under the view which it is located.

Hope something works out,

Can't find that setting, or rather if I try and add it, it just greys the button out to apply it, as if it does not exist.

Here's a strange development, if I place the GTOL as a free note, I can select the datum flag and drag it. If I reattach it with a leader to a surface, it reverts to the image I posted... on top of GTOL box and unselectable!

What version of Pro/E are you using?

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows.

Make sure you are in the drawing options configuration file (or drawing setup file) not the standard config.pro as there are different options. The set_datum_leader_length is a valid option in wildfire 4 but not in the tools>options area. It must be set in the file>drawing options in an open drawing. Also make sure you are first selecting the datum itself (using the datum selection filter) not just the tag. Preselect around the surface or area that is the chosen datum away from the datum tag. This happens to me frequently when trying to reposition a datum tag that is near other dimensions and note leader lines.

Hope it works out,
