I would like to model a material with a Poisson's ratio of 1 out side the conventional boundaries of -1 to 0.5.
I have tried to assign material properties using isotropic material properties and define the Young’s modulus and the Poisson’s ratio. I have also tried assigning material properties using engineering constants using appropriate moduli. All models Abort due to 'negative strain energy'.

Are there set limits within ABAQUS that prevent unconventional Poisson's ratios or is that my material properties fall outside the limitations of ABAQUS.

You could try writing your own UMAT, I suppose
