Hi,
Im trying to come up with a way to avoid collisions underwater, without using sonar. I thought of using four lasers to map the walls of the container and then knowing my initial position, be able to avoid crashing.

Im not really sure if this would work, so any help would be useful.
i.e. is this a viable idea, and how would i go about it?
or any other alternative?

Oh and i only have a small budget < £200.

Thanx,
Mark

Just ready for marketing!
An underwater anti-collision sonar:
FarSounder FS-3 (A 3D forward looking sonar).
But their "budget" is far higher than yours.
