Good day, I would like to ask what size and type of underground cable can I use if the voltage is 7,62kV and the total current 345 A. Kindly help me how to apply the derating factors in determing the size of underground cables. Which is better, directly buried or cables in ducts; XLPE or EPR; 3 single core or multicore? Thanks a lot. [bigsmile]

The answer to "Which is better?" is "It depends." Lots of factors to consider; different weightings to the different factors will produce different answers to "Which is better?" The answer to the first part also depends on various factors presently unknown to anyone reading the question - where, what code(s) govern, what are local practices, etc.

Many of your questions are topics of ongoing debate between engineers with many years of experience.
There is no 'best' answer for most, as already stated.

Start with local Codes and Standards.
Then ask your local POCO if they have their own standards and practices.
Doing things in a way similar to your neighbors is often a good idea.

The nature of this post sounds too academic to me. Is this a student posting?
