What actually is undrained shear strength of soil???

Without being snitty, why not find an introductory text book and look it up? Or do a search on the net? My first try is always to try to seek it out myself . . .
 
ya, i have also tried it out but i am not able to finding out them.. may be due to time constraint.. I am asking this in this forum so as to get answers in short time... I have taken this site as my encyclopaedia for any engineering problem... I think this is also the part of seeking over the net...

Take a look at the history of that site. It would appear that many a contributor has been involved with its development. There is more info there than many a textbook and a lot more than would come via this forum.
 
if the application of shearing force exceeds the ability of the soil to dissipate the excess pore pressure, then undrained shear strength parameters are appropriate.
