Undrained Soil with no Water table Total vs. Effective Stress

Hi,

Conserning the Undrained Analysis of a Stiff clay soil I have a question consering the Stress Distributions.

The soil is modeled in Plaxis 2D (Plane-Strain model), and no water table is present.

When comparing the Total & Effective stress diagram i notice differences in the distributions and Max/Min values, which is something that I would expect.

But I saw someone claim that since no water table is present the Total& Effective Stress distributions should be the same and this doesen't make sense to me.

Am I right to assume that since I am modeling the soil as undrained, there is pore water pressure present, so the different stress distributions are valid?
