I'm modeling a cylindrical specimen made of two sections of different materials, attached end-to-end, and loaded in tension. There should be a stress concentration at the outer edge of the bi-material interface. I'm modeling the whole situation as an axisymmetric problem in ANSYS.
The problem is, the boss requires that the size of the element lengths along the interface gradually get smaller as they get closer to the stress concentration at the circumference (outer surface of the cylindrical specimen), so I would like ANSYS to increase the mesh density as it goes from right to left (from the line of symmetry, ie. the center, to the outer surface)along the interface, as shown the attached image.
I've tried SmartSize, but that only increases the mesh density at small geometric features, so the areas near the interface has a higher mesh density compared to locations far away from the interface. This is good, but the density along the interface is constant. How would I make the density increase as I go from one side (the center of the axisymmetric area) to the other (the outer surface of the specimen) without any small geometric features?
