Hi, thanks for your comments.

What determines when to select a unit heater over a cabinet unit heater? Is it location, I've seen cabinet unit heaters situated at entrances of buildings and unit heaters in mechanical rooms, etc. Why is this and what other parameters should I consider when selecting one over another?
Thanks

I would think looks play a role. the unit heater in the mechanical room likely is not acceptable in a lawyer's office lobby.

Noise may play a role too.

Unit heaters that I know of can get pretty loud. And while cabinet unit heaters are not quite, they seem to be quieter.

I put CUH in vestibules and stairwells etc for aesthetic reasons.

I put UH in attics, basements, mech and electrical rooms for cost reasons.

So Herr, is correct, its mostly on aesthetics but also cost. Put a UH where you can, and the CUH where the architect would object.

knowledge is power

Cabinet heaters mounted around the perimeter of a building for circular airflow do not focus heat where it is most needed at say Warehouses Gyms, Auditoriums etc.
