Unlink project from master project does not work

Hi All,

When I try and unlink a project from a `master project file` that holds many links to other projects it does not work. The method is:

Right click on project, select task information, click on advanced tab and untick the `Link to Project` box

When I close the dialogue and re-open it the box is still ticked. I came a cropper the other day when I assumed that the project would be unlinked after doing the above sequence and I deleted it from the `master project document` which holds all the links to the sub projects. This meant that the sub project got deleted! Thankfully I got it back from support from the previous days backup.

Anyone else suffer this? Is there a work around or is it a bug. Maybe even, I may be doing it wrong? Forbid the thought!

Cheers

Did you try going to tools and clicking on links between projects?
Try doing that and removing any links you don't want. If you are eliminating the project completely from your master project and you don't want to associate it with any of the resources as well. You might want to open the resource pool file and break the link for that one particular project.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. I got the fix from another site and I thought I would share it with you all incase someine else needs the same solution.

The problem lies in the version of Project. I am using2003 Standard and it comes shipped with issues that need patching. One of them is the inability to unlink projects from the master project file. After I loaded the patch set from Microsoft and got the software up to date the probelm dissapeared (along with a few others that I had not come across up to that point!)

Cheers
