Hello All,
I am involved in the design of curtain wall panels for a multistorey building where the contractor intends to use perforated UHPC (Ultra High Performance Concrete) panels as the wall panel. The panel shall be made of unreinforced UHPC concrete with a minimum compressive strength of 140 mPa and a minimum flexural strength of 19 mPa. The panels shall be subjected to wind pressure in the range of 2.5 kPa. I was initially thinking of modelling the perforated panel in a FEM software and comparing the maximum bending stress with the modulus of rupture considering that it is a plain concrete element. However, upon reviewing ACI 318, the code suggests that the plain concrete element shall not be used for bending members. I have seen similar panels are used for the Jean Bouin stadium. In my case, the height and width of the panel are respectively 4m and 2m. The panel is supposed to act as simply supported vertically between two floors which are 4 m apart.
Could someone shed some light on how to design these elements, what all parameters to be checked and the reference I could use for the study?
Thanks in advance
