Question is as follows: Building a residential home in the 70 mph wind load area. Constructing a 2 ft by 6 ft chase with 2x4 studs 16" O.C. What is the maximum unsupported free standing chase height?
Thanks for your help,
Digital

Typically they are SPF, stud grade and are limited to 10 feet. For higher lengths use SYP, reduced spacing or 2x6 .....

Use your wind speed to calculate the bending actual bending load on the studs.

Becareful of the overturn connections!!
