This is an update which I promised several people, some of whom may be lurking here so hopefully you'll get the message.
I just tested an early phase of NX 8.0 and I'm happy to report that we have enhanced the editing of Hole features so that you will be able to change the type of any existing Hole to any other type that you may wish. This includes being able to edit a Threaded Hole and change it to say a Clearance or a Drill Size Hole or even a General Hole, and visa versa. Starting with NX 8.0, when you edit a Hole feature you will have access to the 'Type' list along with all other options and parameters available to you when you initially created the Hole feature in the first place. Also, when changing the Hole 'Type' going from say a Threaded Hole to a Clearance Hole or Drill Size Hole, the software will attempt to select the closest available size to that of the Hole which you are editing so as to try and maintain as much of your original design intent as possible.
Anyway, we know that this has been an outstanding issue for some time and we wanted to be able to verify and report to you as soon as possible that this issue had been addressed and today was the earliest that I had access to these changes as part of an actual product, albeit an early phase, rather then just prototype code that had not yet been tested or integrated.
Now please do not read into this post anything with respect to when NX 8.0 might be available as the release is still a long ways off.
