Updating assembly structure

We are running NX7.5 with TC 8 integration.

I typically work on assemblies that contain parts owned by others. Often the owner of a part will let me know that they rev'ed a part. Is there a quick way to update my assembly such that I get the most current without reloading the entire assembly (some sort of live update)?

Currently I am closing the assembly and re-opening (load option of working) which goes out and finds all of the latest revisions. With large assemblies, this is very time consuming.

Alternatively, I sometimes close the part in question from my assembly (r-click part, close). Then file open the new part, select the new revision and open. Then go back to my assembly, verify the proper revision is in my tree and open the component fully within my assembly. This is quicker with large assemblies but still a bit time consuming.

At least in the 'native' world, there's an option...

File -> Close -> Close and Reopen All Modified Parts

See if you find something like that (it's going to the 'Close' menu that messes with some people's mind).

Yes, Teamcenter integration has the same option. I also have "close and reopen seleted parts" which will come in handy as well.

Hmm , maybe I am doing something wrong or maybe I communicated the question incorrectly.

Today, a part in teamcenter shows as being revision 02, my assembly has an older revision in it (rev 01). When I choose File-> close-> close and re-open all modified parts, the assembly does not update with the current revision.

The 'Close and Reopen All Modified Parts' function only goes by the last saved date on the part files, but it's only looking at the files with the same exact name, and as far as Teamcenter is concerned, a different rev level IS a different part name.

However this might help: Try going to...

File -> Options -> Assembly Load Options...

...and see if you have an option at the top of the dialog titled 'Load Latest'. If so, toggled it ON. See if that makes a difference.

We are not on TC, but this may work for you...
I often encounter this issue, and I've found that simply closing and re-opening the single component (from the ANT) works great.
This is probably just what John's suggestion does, just a slightly different way of getting there (same as so much in NX).

When working with a PDM, you will need to update your workspace to have the latest version it before opening the file in the CAd application.
Try to resync your workspace to the server or do asn update of the workspace on all out-dated components.

(Generic answer because I only have Windchill experience, no TC, but the concepts should be the same.)

Well actually we have teamcenter & windchill. From TC we check files into Winchill. It's a belt and suspenders PWM nightmare.

Anyway, I do not have the load option of "Load Latest".

I have no problem getting the latest files into my assembly when I open the assembly from scratch. But...if someone revs up one of the parts while my assebly is open there does not seem to be an easy way to get the part updated in my assembly.

I can close the part in the ant, open the part with the proper rev, go back to my assembly and re-open the part. Just wondering if there was an easier way.... A "file->close-> close & re-open out of rev parts" option would be nice

Today, I close the part when I am in the assembly (only the part) but I have not found a way to stay in the assembly and open the part at the new rev level. Is this possible?

Currently, I file open the new rev part and then go back to the assembly and then righ click the part and open fully.

Just tying to understand if I can eliminate the back and forth between part / assembly and eliminate some key strokes.

If the rev level changed, you don't have to close the part, only replace component with the new one (at least in native when the file name indicates rev).
