Hi All
I modelled some parts of the machine tool and saved them as three different files. After done so, I imported those parts into my Main part and assembled them. The question arose when I tried to upgrade one of the imported model. I am sure we cannot modify features of the imported parts and for that reason I had to go back to my original file. I upgraded and saved it and opened my Main file to see any changes I made to the original file. It seems Abaqus never upgrades or Abaqus doesnt provide any links between parts so that they can be upgraded automatically.

Is there any possibility if the models are upgraded automatically following any changes to the original file? I dont want to make all the parts in one file because of file size problems. Can any one suggest on that. I would be grateful if i get any answers to this.

Regards

An associative translator between Abaqus and you CAD can fix this for you. I can not find what the cost is now. Hopefully someone has this information closer at hand. Hope this helps.

MNS,

Whenever you import parts into ABQAUS, there is no associativity with the CAD package. As rst.. said, if you want it, it is available with some cad packages not all. You could check with ABAQUS to find out the latest status.

MSN,

I have ABAQUS V. 6.7EF1. This version has interfaces for the following CAD packages:
CATIA V5
Solidworks
Pro/ENGINEER.

For the time being I am using only ABAQUS 6.7 for modelling and import them into Abaqus's 6.7 sencond session and cant see any linkages between its own files.

Thanks for those CAD packages. I will have a look on them.
I greatly appreciate you guys.
