There's been talk of that ever since Northrop dropped out. Though it may the first time I've read about the deadline definitely being extended.

Eads already supply the UH72 so they aren't completely unknown, but probably would have been stronger with a bigger US partner.

the whole bid is starting to become a joke if you ask me...
i'd also like to see, if it's possible to make a 767-777-787 (parts of them - fuselage, wing-cockpit) hybrid without cost overruns...
and i bet eads has a share of their problems too (i am just not aware of them, so if anyone knows tell please).
 
The tanker bid went beyond being a joke ten years ago.

Now it's a national embarrassment.
