Use of ALE adaptive meshing 1

I would like to use ALE adaptive mesh for a reciprocating sliding wear problem. I am using static,general mode during simulation. should I use dynamic mode for this simulation or static mode sufficient?
Later on I am planning to use UMESH sub routine. while using ALE, I am just switching on ALE by following steps
step---others---adaptive mesh domain---manager
Is this sufficient for activating ALE? should I use any other options for this simulation.
load and constraints are specified from load condition manager and boundary condition manager.

ALE adaptive meshing in Abaqus/Standard (UMESHMOTION subroutine requires Standard) can’t be used in dynamic implicit analyses so general static is the only option in this case.

In order to activate ALE adaptive meshing you should go to Step module and select Other —> ALE Adaptive Mesh Domain —> Edit (or Manager —> Edit) and switch to "Use the ALE adaptive mesh domain below". Then pick the region.

I was following the same steps. My doubt was whether to do any additional steps other than switching to "Use the ALE adaptive mesh domain below".
Is it necessary to use any other options like " ALE adaptive mesh constraint" or any other options in that ALE module.
Is it fine to specify boundary constraint using boundary condition manager as in case of a conventional problem.

The remaining options are ALE Adaptive Mesh Constraint and ALE Adaptive Mesh Controls. The first one is used to directly define the motion of nodes. This can be done in one of three ways - by:
- specifying the displacement or velocity values in each direction
- making the nodes follow the material
- using UMESHMOTION subroutine (for constraints dependent on the results)

The second option (adaptive mesh controls) is used to define advanced settings of ALE adaptive meshing.

When you specify a boundary condition for nodes in ALE domain, no adaptive meshing will be performed in the direction in which this boundary condition is applied.
 
I am planning to do a wear simulation. In that case the mesh has to get updated by ALE mesh. In this problem, i am using periodic boundary condition for amplitude to having motion to the body and i need to use umesh motion subroutine. Should i select "user" option in ALE mesh constraint and specify boundary condition in boundary condition manager and link umesh motion subroutine with wear equation in job menu.
 
In such case you should define ALE Adaptive Mesh Constraint (Motion: User-defined) for nodes that will be subjected to adaptive meshing. Use boundary conditions only for other regions, to prescribe global motion of the parts.

And yes, you have to select the subroutine in General tab of the Edit Job window.
