We've been specifying and using the proprietary Deepwater I-Rod and NuBolt system as an aid in minimising crevice corrosion at pipe support locations. Generally successfully.
But a question has arisen with regards to possible static build-up (due to the lack of metal to metal contact at the support and an 'earth path' to ground being available through the support), particularly when pumping non-conductive liquids such as LPG.

Flanges are cross bonded (from one flange to the next) using copper strips at bolt locations and flow velocities are <3ms so I don't believe that there is a static problem but I'd be interested in the views of other users of these items.

Just earth the pipe at regular intervals, say every 500m and you'll be fine, especially if you cross bond the flanges.

Using supports as an earth is not reliable
