Our corporate drawing standard is to use GD&T for all features on drawings. Is anyone using GD&T on the model as opposed to the drawing?. Is there a fast way to add feature control frame values say for positional tolerances on a range of hole sizes?. I do not consider that the liberal use of GD&T is appropriate for most sheetmetal parts. I am trying to reduce the amount of GD&T and dimensions as information can be transferred electronically to manufacturing based on flats unfolded from model. Argument always is that you need a detail drawing to inspect to. But if process is robust "art to part" should be possible.
Does anybody agree that detailing time can be reduced considerably by using solid model. -how
Anybody using point cloud scanning to inspect physical part to CAD model.- Geomagic for example? - how fast is the scanning and translation process?
