Hello,

My query is with regards to the use of delayed egress system involving electromagnetic lock on non-fire rated exit door. The exit door currently has mechanical latch operated by pushbar on the secure side and key on the exit side.

If maglock with panic bar is required to be installed on the exit door, then according to code is it required to have panic bar as well as push bar or should the panic bar be set up to open the mechanical latch when power fails.

Thank you.

or you can do a electric touch bar and mag lock which when you touch the bar, the door opens right than

If a door is required to have panic hardware to begin with thatn it must have panic hardware or equal.

not sure if this answers your questio, if not restate

Panic bar is a different requirement from delayed egress. A door may include delayed egress feature based on panic bar or other type of lock hardware.

If both panic bar and delayed egress are required,I think the answer goes relative to the hardware options you may consider.

You can find panic bars that include the delay feature, retard devices that work with regular panic bars, etc., Maglock is one of the options.

For example...

There are other provisions that must be satisified under the International Building Code besides the arrangment of the door hardware. Specifically, the building must be protected throughout by an automatic sprinkler system in almost every case.
