Can a Moeller PKZMO Manual Motor Protector be used for general(other than motor load) cct protection in lue of fusing/cct breaker?
According to Electrical Code (Canadian or American)?

It looks like it includes short-circuit protection and has a pretty good interrupting rating (65 kA). In my opinion it can be used in lieu of a branch circuit breaker as long as the feeder protection is at or below what is specified by Moeller, but it would cost substantially more. What is your application?

I am not specifically familiar with the Moeller product, but I am familiar with products from Allen-Bradley and Group Schneider. These types of devices are not listed in the U.S. for use as circuit breakers, i.e., they are NOT UL 489 listed. They are only for use on grouped (or single) motor circuits when used in conjunction with an upstream UL 489 breaker or appropriate fuses. Newer products (Type E versions) have been approved as stand alone branch circuit protection for motor circuits only and meet UL 508 standards for industrial control panel installations. Rule of thumb: if it is not specifically listed for use on the application in question, it is not acceptable to the NEC.

Please search Allen-Bradley's site for Publication 1492-WP001A-EN-P for more info on UL 489, Ul 1077, and Type E devices.

Suggestion: Please, notice that the NFPA 70 NEC jurisdiction is outside the product. If the circuit breaker is an inside part of the product, then industry standards govern. If the circuit breaker is meant to be outside of the product, then the NFPA 70 NEC applies. See for example appliances.
