Use of power press for round bar billet shear 1

If I want to cut round bar by using power press instead of billet shear. What would happen.
Does anyone know the structure difference between power press and billet shear.
I am wondering if it is going to damage the press if I use 150tons power press and make shearing die to cut round bar Dia36mm.

If you use a proper die set in the power press with tooling guideposts you should not have any problems. That diameter of bar will only use a fraction of the 150 tons unless the steel is super hard.
