Use of Socket Cap Screws according do ASME VIII BPVC

Hi guys,

I was checking if socket cap screw bolts were allowed by ASME VIII for a Div.2 vessel design and couldn´t find the SA-574 material on Table 3.5. Later on I took a look on table UCS-23 of Div.1 and the SA-574 was there.

So, does it mean those high strength socket cap screws are allowed by div.1 and not by div.2? Anybody knows if they could be used in a Div.2 vessel?

amquen, referring to Sec II, Part D, Table 3, I see SA-574 is not permitted (NP) for Div 2, and only with restrictions for Div 1. I don't recall offhand another spec for socket head fasteners, you may need to further search Sec II, Part A.

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand
