Use of Stamps in different states

My mother company in Kentucky has the "U" "R" "S" (among others)I am located in Texas, we have a boiler repair job we are bidding on that consist of replacing tubes with new, but will have to cut and re-weld piping welded directly to boiler. Can the TX office use the "S" stamp that is assigned to the Kentucky office?

What does the scope of your Certificate of Authorization state from ASME, National Board and your Quality Manual? If you do not control any field sites (Texas) under your home office Certificates (Kentucky), the answer is no.

Even if the Kentucky "S" Certificate has a "field" scope, you can only perform work at the point of final assembly or installation in Texas. You cannot fabricate "S" Code items in your Texas shop unless that location has their own "S" Certificate or a Temporary Certificate issued by ASME.

This has been a hot-button issue with ASME over the last few years and I personally know some Certificate Holders who have gotten into big trouble by interpreting the "field" scope loosely.

This work may be under the R-Certificate versus ASME Certificate simply because this is a boiler repair job versus new construction (I agree that ASME has finally resolved the field site issue). I don't see how the S stamp would apply.
