I am looking to obtain some used lab equipment, specifically a soil Unconfined Compression machine. I've looked at Ad-Tek and worked with them in the past but they do not have anything used in our price range. I'm located in California if that is applicable. Does anyone out there know where you can get some used or reasonably priced lab equipment? I've found what we need on Humboldt as well but was wondering if there any commonly used used lab resources that can provide a similar product for cheaper. Thanks.

An unconfined compression machine is easy to build. Load cells on Amazon have gotten incredibly cheap.

Absent that, I occasionally see one on Publicsurplus.com. The State of Washington routinely has a lot of surplus lab equipment.

Don't forget calibration. Many state agencies will calibrate scales and some load cells free of charge. I don't know about California, but worth checking into. Check with your state agriculture department....they often have purview over scales and such.
